Loving the tool but there are a couple of bugs I have found that can get a bit irritating and a couple of suggestions I would like to see added.
Bugs
- Sometimes different elements that are the same colour can be rendered has being slightly different colours. I think this is just a visual bug in the renderer.
- When converting from voxels to elements sometimes all the elements become black. If you undo the conversion and fill the voxels the same colour and convert them again it works. Sometimes though they are rendered with random colours like no texture is defined but still export the colour. I think the first is due to the texture not being generated and the second might be an internal/rendering bug.
- Related to the above. When converting from voxels to elements the elements change colour slightly. Might be the same rendering bug again.
- Pressing the Show/Hide button while having some elements selected shows/hides all the elements not just the ones selected
- Delete key (on keyboard) does not always delete the selected element(s) but the delete button in the program does
- Scaling with spheres is not consistant. Sometimes scales around the bottom corner and sometimes around the centre.
Features
- The current method of converting individual clusters of the same colour voxel to its own element and having all those elements point to the same pixel is clever however it leads to far more voxels than are actually neccessary. I would suggest using a method similar to how you would normally unwrap the UV of 3d models and have a larger texture with the faces spread flat but far far less voxels. Possibly have it as an optional exporting method along with the current method
- Being able to remap key bindings would be really nice. (following two are keybindings I would like to change)
-- Left and right click in the voxel tool are the opposite way around to how they are in Minecraft and I keep finding myself autopiloting and removing voxels when I meant to add.
-- Middle click would make more sense as rotation to me in the 3d view than translation because I use it more
