Can't draw a selection box?  [Solved]

Whenever I try to draw a selection box with LSHIFT + LCLICK, it draws it but the moment it touches an element it stops, and I can't increase or decrease it's size. Can someone help me?

You need to use RShift rather than LShift since its used for scaling and not selecting
