Hei, i recently bought cubik and created a model. Now i want to texture it but im a bit confused in how to do that. I dont want to use textures from minecraft, i want to create my own texture and apply it to the model. Is there a way to uv map my object and export it as a uv map so i can edit it in a 2d program? If not, what can you recommend me to do?
here is a picture of my model

Re: Question about texturing
You can load a texture and UV map any element with this texture on each face (an element is a resizable cube).
To do do, in "Element" edit-mode, use the Elements Material to load new textures. You can also paint directly on elements via the "Paint" edit-mode.
You can also create your model without texture and then ask Cubik to generate a texture for your model. To do so, in Elements Material, select the function in "..." > "Create atlas blank". You'll then be able to save the generated texture to edit it in Paint.net or Photoshop (or any picture editor) or paint on your model easily (with "Paint" edit-mode as said above)

Re: Question about texturing
Perfekt! It even resized the texture completely automatic! a problem i noticed when trying to paint elements directly.
I shouldnt look like this.. it paints like half the element and then just paints the other half somewhere else, even tho it looks correctly on the texture it looks completely different on the object.

Re: Question about texturing
Okay ill try to explain it a bit better:
When i "draw" a part of a element, it doesnt draw it in 1x1 like it should. Meaning it doesnt draw 1 pixel but only 1/3 of a pixel. I draws the other 2/3 to some random place that is not connected. If you look on the picture, you can see, that the texture left, does not have 1/3 of a pixel, only 1x1 pixel drawn on it. But if you look on the object bottom right, it doesnt even look close to what it should look like according to my uv map. It is hard to explain, if you need me to record a video of it i will do, but i hope my explanation was enough:D

Re: Question about texturing
I think you just need to regenerate the texture atlas (blank)
If you move/resize elements after atlas generation, that kind of issues will happen (which is normal)
The best is to do things in this order:
- create model with elements (moved/resized/rotated without taking care of texture)
- Optimize model by deleting hidden faces (automatic and/or manually)
- Generate atlas texture (blank)
- Paint on elements to create texture base
- Save texture and reload in Cubik (so Cubik will automatically reload it later if texture is modified on HDD)
- Edit the texture (rescale it x2, x4 or x8) in Paint.net or Photoshop or Gimp or any image editor

Re: Question about texturing
Okay optimizing the object fixed it, works very smooth now, thank you!

Re: Question about texturing
i know this thread is old but its the closest thing ive found for the question i have. i just got the program yesterday (LOVE LOVE LOVE IT btw, great job guys) but im a little dumb when it comes to adding the path to my image editor to the preferences. can someone walk me through how to do that? i have gimp and i keep linking it to the exe that launches the program but it keeps saying that cubik cant use that type of file.
