ok so ive got a pizza model, how, have esported it and see it as an object, but when place uses the original minecraft model of a block, what do i do?

It could be as simple as a file name mistake.
I suggest you extract the jar file for the version of minecraft you're using. You can use those files as references to file names when replacing blocks.
