Create a 3D model from a texture

Post by Galingueur » 18 Nov 2016, 13:49

Hello,

I would like to create a 3D model from complex textures, and i need to repeat this operation a lot of time .

Here one of theses textures : Image

I've tried to create an .obj model with magicka voxel (from the .png) but i use too many differents colors on my texture, magicka voxel can't reproduce all the palette. So i need to transform my voxel into elements, and then, put my texture on it. But it's to long to put my texture on each numerous elements generate with the convert tool !

Is there a way to do it more easily, and maybe, directly in Cubik Studio (without Magicka Voxel) ?

Thank you,

Well, I'm not sure what you are actually trying to do... What does represent your texture?

What do you want to achieve exactly?

Do you want to extrude your texture so it would be flat but with thickness? If so, just import your PNG in CubikStudio and it will automatically be extruded in elements.

Hello Sphax, and thank you for your answer.

There are some lack of information in my previous message, sorry for that.
So, yes i would like to extrude a bit my texture (a stack of garbage, bottle, paper and cardboard) to put it on wooden pressure plate (because minecraft is crap, wooden pressure plate don't allow transparent texture, so i need a model)

I can import my png and it's work really well, it's awesome ! but i have an other problem.
When i import a png, i have two options (fit in block and fit in world). Fit in block give me a model too small and fit in block a model too big ! I would like to have a model which overflowing other block. A model of 64x64 pixels like this :
Image

Is it possible ? (Maybe resize the world ? but i don't know how to do this...)

Thanks a lot :)

Well, you just have to import your PNG so CubikStudio will extrude it automatically with as few elements as possible.
You can select "Fit in block" (easier for next steps).

Then if you want to make your model overflow 50% on blocks aside:
> Select all your elements
> go in Elements list
> click the "..." button
> in "Transform" > "Scale..."
> enter 2 1 2 on each axis
> OK (your model is scaled up)
> in "Transform" > "Move..."
> enter -8 0 -8
> OK (your model is centered)
