Like I said, gifting doesn't really do anything special besides send them the activation link instead of it being sent to you, yet you still activated the product yourself even though you stated you wanted to gift it. That doesn't really make sense.

All purchasing as a gift does is let you enter an email address to send the activation link to. Upon receiving that link yourself you could have just given it to your friend instead of activating it yourself.

Can you not just give the account to your friend? They can then change the email ...
