I had been using the wrong key the whole time! I used the BDC key instead of the BCS key, because that's what the text field prompted. Instead I had to use the BCS key, and that worked. My email address is already all lowercase, so that's no good for me. I also tried restarting the updater and restarting my computer, neither of which were successful.
