Import MCEDIT schematic as elements with block textures on them

Post by MrYurihi » 20 Nov 2016, 15:27

Location: Preferances in Formats tab (maybe)
Option name: Import MCEDIT schematic as elements with block textures
Option type: Checkbox

Option action when enabled/disabled/clicked:
enabled: when importing an MCEDIT schematic, each block in the schematic imports as an element with textures to match the block in the schematic
disabled: would import schematic as is right now.

You can do that quite easily with version 2.2 ;)

  1. Import Schematic
  2. Click on "..." in voxel edit-mode
  3. Convert to elements
  4. 1 element per voxel
  5. Go in Element edit-mode
  6. Click the "Optim" button and let it delete elements without faces
  7. Replace each texture by the texture of the ResourcePack of your choice
  8. Done!
Warning: Converting big schematics with that method can take time and may be unstable depending on your machine.

Yes, but it would be nice to have a feature that can do all of those things, plus create accurate blocks, and not just cubes, so a piston would have its actual orientation, and stairs would have the stair model.

That would need a way for Cubik Studio to import each block model and place them/rotate them accurately for each voxel in Schematic.
This would be huge work and is not something planned currently.

I think the current way to do things is accurate enough for the moment.

1+ elemental per voxel moment
The program stops.

import obj file to voxelize and export to schematic file
Please let me know how you would like to deploy in the mc edit program.
