Changelog: version 2.9

Version 2.9 is now available for download!
It is adding MANY new (small and big) features and fix several annoying bugs...
The new features you should not miss are the support for inverted elements, the easier UV editor, the customizable keys for several commands, the Schematic exporter, the possiblity to drag&drop a file directly in Cubik window to open it (on Windows), the support of DDS and TGA files for textures and a better Cubik file browser! Be sure to check all of that!

We sincerely hope this new version will please you and be sure that we'll continue to improve the software. :)

:D New features and improvements:
  • :element: Added "Invert Normals" option to element settings
  • :element: Added new "Inflate" function for elements
  • :element: New element now uses first available texture instead of using "texture" which can be missing
  • :element: :voxel: Disable views rendering while converting voxels to elements and while optimizing elements (to boost process speed)
  • :element: :mesh: New "Move to top" and "Move to bottom" options in elements list and meshes list
  • :uv: Keyboard arrows can now move UV on UV editor
  • :voxel: Voxel selection is now refreshed after the use of a tool, improving all voxel tools
  • :voxel: :paint: Faster and more accurate line tool on textures and on voxels
  • :voxel: :paint: Added line thickness for pixels and voxels line tool
  • :paint: Increased maximum texture size to graphic card max texture size / 2 with minimum 512
  • :paint: Improved color selection and color palette sync
  • :mesh: New function "Remove alpha" for Mesh texture menu
  • :mesh: Primitives are now using same material and shaders as elements (so meshes can be exact same colors as elements)
  • :preview: Skin preview is now using same material and shaders as elements
  • :import: Picture Importer now supports DDS format
  • :import: Picture Importer now supports TGA format (truecolor only, both RLE and RAW)
  • :import: Improved PNG Import dialog
  • :import: :export: Implemented a preview panel to Cubik Browser
  • :import: :export: Cameras are now saved in .cubik format + Fixed bug with grid settings not loaded from .cubik format
  • :import: Implemented shortcuts for paths in Cubik filebrowser (%minecraft%, %staxel%, %stonehearth%, %steam%, %backup%, %app%, %data%, %desktop%, %appdata% and more...)
  • :export: Added "Include elements name" option to Minecraft format

  • :export: File > Save menu now acts exactly like Save as if never saved before
  • :export: Minecraft JSON format supports inverted elements

  • :export: Exported PNG now fully support transparency (and are faster to render)
  • :cubik: Implemented drag&drop of file in Cubik Studio window (Windows only)
  • :cubik: Added option "Large" to grid settings, so the grid is nearly infinite

  • :cubik: New menu item "Browse last save/export Folder" in "Tools" menu
  • :cubik: Left Shift and left Ctrl are now behaving exactly like right Shift and right Ctrl!!!

  • Fixed bug with texture edited externally
  • Fixed bug with decimals when exporting Minecraft .json format
  • Fixed crash of Cubik FileBrowser on some systems (because of a bug in DateTime class port to Mono), that crash prevented the file browser window to be closed
  • Fixed bug with Cubik filebrowser when displaying root/logical drives
  • Fixed Bug: Maximizing a view then going to Preview breaks the views
  • Fixed bug with "Avoid bleeding textures" option in model properties
  • Fixed bug with window moved outside of visible screen (because of bad value for windowX or windowY)
  • Fixed bug with broke F2 shortcut (Rename selection) introduced in 2.8
  • Fixed bug with delete function in Elements or Meshes lists
  • Fixed bug while extruding PNG with optimized elements
  • Fixed bug with "Enable Symmetry" menu which didn't work
  • Fixed bug of "Customize textures" dialog which was added to history even when cancelled

How can you select multiple elements in the newest version? Previously you could draw a selection box with RightControl, can't figure out how to do it anymore and can't find anything in the preferences either.


@floriskn I had the same problem but figured it out. For some reason all the custom keys were reset/changed to something else, you need to set the rotate mode key again in preferences->advanced.

Keys have changed to [1] (alpha or numpad) for rotate and [2] for scale. You can change that to any key you want (even previous keys). Read the short tutorial on the subject: tutorials-f4/how-to-set-the-customizabl ... t1496.html

To select multiple elements with a selection rectangle, just use Shift + left click
To select multiple elements one by one, use Control

will there be an option in the future to have damage detection when exported with a command ?
please it will make it way easier to create "infinite" textures/models in minecraft thanks - cool_monsters
